The problem with the concept of using exercise for weight loss — which is akin to using a spoon to shovel snow — is that it actually burns very few calories. ⠀ 🍔 Big Mac will take 2 hours, 20 minutes of brisk walking 🍕 A slice of pizza will take 22 minutes at 12-14mph 🥤 A soft drink will take 20 minutes of mountain climbers ⠀ If you’re on the path to losing weight, the most effective exercise for calorie burning will always be the one you'll do most often and for the longest, because those are the multipliers. This is the value of finding enjoyment in the process. If you take the time to discover the form of movement you love, exercise will no longer be all about losing weight. Instead, it’s replaced with a pleasurable way to move your body that becomes apart of who you are. Instead of being someone who occasionally runs, you become a “runner.” See the difference? Exercise is great for fitness/health and we all should keep doing it...but weight loss is nearly entirely about making adjustments to intake calories. 85%-100% of it is intake. Dedicated exercisers — maybe 15% of it is that. Bit of a strange one this! Or are you strange with your mindset! 🍱 . Don’t ever judge someone because you find weird/strange on how they find time to do things that you can’t be arsed to do and question how they do it! . It’s not only mindset, goal setting and putting there priorities first, it’s also making the right choices, keeping to good habits and wanting to achieve what they set out to achieve making no excuses without putting first something that is not important!! . Firstly a meal prep for the week can take an average 1-2hrs on a Sunday depending what your making! How many times a week do you come home each day and watch tv? Then add up all those minutes/hours! (Bet the average is 2hrs a night at least) 🤔, 10-12hrs a week compared to your meal prep 1/2hrs! . I for one don’t watch tv! So think about it, the time your watching tv, @toms_nutrition is either doing a workout, checking on mum, cooking a nice meal (that doesn’t take time at all) playing games with his kids, reading/learning etc etc!!! . That’s just an example! . What’s your excuse? Do you spend hours on something through the week and then wonder why you have no time to make lifestyle changes? . Sometimes you need a word with one self before you go and question someone else’s Life choices! 👍🏽 . 8 REASONS YOU GAINED WEIGHT OVERNIGHT by @grantgirsky ⠀ I want to share a quick example here… ⠀ Recently, I had a client that was very discouraged that her scale weight was trending higher than usual, which left her feeling discouraged & defeated. ⠀ We recapped her previous week and concluded that: ⠀ 1️⃣ She was very sore from her workouts that week, which can cause water retention to repair damaged muscle tissue. ⠀ 2️⃣ She was out late multiple nights that week, getting less sleep than usual and sleeping at a different time than usual. ⠀ 3️⃣ She had a couple drinks the night before which could cause dehydration/fluid retention. ⠀ 4️⃣ And on top of all that, it was “shark week” (her words, not mine 😂), which can absolutely cause significant scale weight fluctuations. ⠀ Any one of these factors could have contributed to her “perceived” weight-gain, let alone all four! ⠀ Don’t get me wrong here… ⠀ I'm not saying you can make an excuse every time the scale doesn’t read what you want it to read, but you do need to be able to take a step back and view that information objectively. ⠀ Remember, it’s extremely unlikely (if not impossible) that you actually gained pounds fat overnight. ⠀ Just be patient, and don’t forget the myriad of reasons that can cause the scale to say you “gained weight”. ⠀ Tag a friend that needs to be reminded of this!

Flipping through some photos, and some memories. This photo on the left was from a hike my brother attempted to take me on last year in April. There were lots of stairs and I gave up, full stop. I took a few pictures with James but I was frustrated and sad that I couldn’t do it-it was overall too hard for me and my body. This year, James and I are going back to that damn hike and I’m going to take more pictures and walk up the stairs. It’s not been a year yet between these photos but a lot, lot, lot has changed in my life, the 5 months since surgery, engagement, wedding, new job. 2020 has been a lot so far with the passing of people whom I love and the new developments from work, but something that has remained constant since surgery is a greater zest for life-enjoying things I fell out of love with when I was heavier, because I felt a bit like giving up on life entirely. I love sharing pictures of my progress because before surgery I would wake up every day and see pictures on my instagram of people’s successes with weight loss surgery, and it inspired me for change in my own life. I got invited for lunch today and, for some reason, really craved some meat. As you might know, I try to eat less meat and mainly plant-based, but my cravings were just too big today 😅 So I ordered an entrecôte 🥩 with potatoes 🥔 and a side salad 🥗 It was pretty good, but for some reason my stomach felt a little upset in the afternoon.. Doesn't have to be from the meat, but I don't know what else it could have been. Interestingly, I didn't enjoy it as much as I craved it. Next time I might juat order pasta 😅
