@andymeddickmp 🦘 - “This is pretty big news.
As many of you already know, since the bushfire crisis began, I have been speaking regularly with the Victorian Premier's office about the urgent need for funding to support our wildlife.
So today I was thrilled to see the Victorian Government taking action with the announcement of a $17.5 million initial rescue package - with a focus on saving endangered and threatened species.
It’s estimated 185 of Victoria’s native species, many of them rare and threatened, have already been impacted by the fire emergency, including the Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby (Victoria’s most endangered mammal), Long-footed Potaroo and Large Brown Tree Frog.
This announcement today is a huge step towards repairing the damage caused to our precious native wildlife and their habitats.
And I'll keep doing all I can to support our native animals, their rescuers and shelter-givers following the bushfire crisis.”🌱
