In case you haven't already heard, there's a new travel influencer gaining quite a bit of attention on social media these days, and no, it's not a person. It's a tree.
The famous #deadseatree has in and of itself become a huge reason why an increasing number of travelers are flocking to the lowest point on Earth. Not only is the surrounding scenery incredibly beautiful, this tree is especially unique in that it has defied all odds of coexisting with the unforgiving Dead Sea.
As you may already know, or can guess from the name, it's called "Dead Sea" because any plant or animal that attempts to live here would otherwise die. With a salt concentration 10 times higher than the ocean, it's physically impossible for plants and animals to live in or within such a hypertonic environment.
Standing in the middle of a salt formation atop an island in Israelâs Dead Sea, it makes no sense as to why this tree is mysteriously alive. Can you guess?
Well, as it turns out this tree has not defied all the odds - on its own. A local resident paddles out to the tree each and every day to bring it the minerals that are naturally over absorbed.
So, although this tree is not a natural phenomenon, it's nonetheless an otherworldly sight to see. If you decide to visit the famous Dead Sea and its celebrity tree, there's a few things to keep in mind.
ğ¹Do drink water and hydrate beforehand

To get here, fly to Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) and drive 25 minutes to "Dead Tree Salt Island". After you're done, consider a trip to Masada National Park, a UNESCO site with rich history and panoramic, mountaintop views.
