Hi, so I’m going to rant a bit, I’m sorry.
Love island has been on a matter of days and I can’t believe what I’m seeing ALREADY. Don’t get me wrong, a joke is a joke, we can all have a laugh in our homes whilst we are watching a programme on tv, but personally I think the following is just disgusting:
Along with many people tweeting about love island contestants being ‘ugly’, ‘fake’, ‘sluts’ etc we have HUGE CLOTHING BRANDS putting out pictures of contestants and branding them psychos. Putting them in the same category as serial killers and stalkers. I won’t name drop, I’m sure many people have seen these tweets from this clothing brand, but you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Not only do these people proceed to write life changing, damaging tweets like this but they are the same people preaching about mental health and suicide rates. They are the same people that call others out for bullying and online abuse!
Look, having a laugh and a joke with your family inside your own four walls is a different story. Still not nice, but no one can hear you. I think it’s absolutely disgraceful that there are not only thousands of people abusing these contestants online, but massive worldwide brands doing it too.
I’m sorry for this negative post, and I don’t normally come on here to rant. But this is something I’m passionate about and think there is no excuse for - people take their own lives because of others writing these things about them online. Two people from previous love island series have sadly been taken from us too soon, why on earth do we think it’s okay to carry on commenting on people’s appearances and branding them psychopaths? STOP.
Think about what you’re writing before you write it, how would you feel reading that about yourself? I honestly can’t tell you how important this is. THINK.
