I have half a dozen episodes on my podcast dedicated to fitness. THAT'S how much I love it, and how much the industry of it URKS me. ⁣ ⁣ A bad personal trainer's favorite line is "You're not trying hard enough. Show me that you want it." As you, Debbie, mom of 3, with a removed thyroid, who can't remember the last time she slept more than 5 hours in a row, HATES cardio, and just wants to feel sexy in her body for 5 whole minutes- is doing the same workout as Brock, 18, used to be super skinny, but now works out 7 days a week with his new friends, only posts gym selfies and "motivational quotes" that leave you feeling a little attacked, like "your max out is my warm up." ⁣ ⁣ You're doing the SAME WORK OUT WITH THE SAME TRAINER! You're just supposed to be a little slower than rice for brains, Brock. ⁣ ⁣ All joking aside, if you hate doing something DON'T DO IT! Most of the time its the universe telling you "Hey, this isn't your thing" OR "Hey, you're doing this the wrong way, Love." ⁣ ⁣ Be strong enough to listen, and ditch the bad advice. 👋🏻

Este concepto de entrenamiento se refiere a la capacidad de hacer más con el tiempo 🙌🏻 Por ejemplo si una semana hacemos sentadilla hasta x rango de movimiento y a la otra semana podemos descender 5 cm más, estamos aplicando sobrecarga progresiva 👏🏻💪🏻 Más peso, más repeticiones, más series, dependiendo nuestro objetivo. I had many stressors that made me come home and hop into bed to avoid dealing with anxiety and other symptoms I encounter through PTSD. _ _ _ Perhaps I disappoint a lot of people, myself included. Official first day of strongman training! Working with really light weight to get comfortable with the movements. First is circus dumbbell, I need to aquire some fat grips to make the simulation better, but all in all pretty easy! Followed by arm over arm pull. The video I got is with extremely light weight and I lead with my left arm. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a good video of me pulling @timaah517 across the floor. When I did that I lead with my right and kept my hands closer together in order to use both arms for more power! Finally a little "butt-tapper squat" as a fun accessory. Another excerpt from my Behemoth Strong book. . One thing unique about this program is the option for lower recoverability or higher recoverability templates. . The higher recoverability template will be the standard 4 workouts in 7 days. . The lower recoverability template will be split into two options. This doesn't mean you can't recover well, it could also mean your strength is very high and you need more time to recover between sessions. This is a smart way to train rather than trying to force a session if you aren't fully recovered. After all, do you want a long PL career or to be like so many who flash the world and then burn out quickly? . Your choice. . One option is the Squat Bench 1 Dead/Bench 2 Squat Bench 1 format with the 4th day of training purely a high rep pump day (machines or light barbell and DB work). That high rep pump day will depend upon the current week. Odd weeks are upper, even weeks are lower. . The other option being the 3 day a week program, where you pick three days to train and rotate the 4 workouts over 9 days. This has been popularized with Swede's 5th set and also used by numerous other programs. This lower recoverability is the classic ABA/BAB layout. . In the book I will have a questionnaire that will tell you exactly what template fits your needs, you can deviate if you want to, that is your choice, but if you are smart you will fit the program to YOU rather than fit YOU to the program. . Examples: Tom Saul hit a PR total and his best DL ever using the lower recoverability option. 1890 total and 771 DL weighing in at 225. . Evan Botizan hit his best competition bench and squat using the standard template (higher recoverability) . The program fits the person's needs. . I cannot wait until this is finished. . This morning I woke up overweight a.f. 😂 according to the CDC; I am in the OVERWEIGHT category. There are health implications to being overweight which is why everyone has to periodically visit their PCP to ensure everything is 👌. However, things have been floating on the cyberweb that make me feel uneasy. Results for this test and that test and people genuinely upset...subjective tests that are meant to give you information. What you do with that information and how you let it affect your mental well-being is important. Don't let numbers, arbitrary values, and oversimplified categories determine who you are and what you embody. Yes, take measures to fact-check and make sure you're body is in optimal health. If it's not, discuss with your doctor what you can do to fix it. Looking back, the amount of times I used these 2 as an excuse in the past to skip my workouts is crazy.  It's crazy to me, now that I've made a shift in my mindset & daily actions, that I let that go for so long, which in turn, let myself fall into an unhealthy pattern of living. . I will NEVER tell you it's easy to consistently workout with little ones, because it's not.  But over the past 6 years, I've learned ways to make it a little easier & a little more realistic.  I've learned that I'm a better mom when I prioritize a quick workout. I've earned that making it to a gym or class isn't the best option for me right now. . Sometimes it means they get an extra half hour of screen time on days like today when they're home.  Sometimes it means I have to set my alarm for earlier than I wanted.  Sometimes it means getting up earlier on the weekends when I'd rather sleep in. . I've learned that it's a choice I have.  I've learned that my health matters & my future health matters, especially for these 2.  So I no longer use them as my excuse.  Sure, sometimes their sports lives and activities are obstacles, but there's ways to make it work. . “Think like a bumblebee. Train like a racehorse.”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Ben Bergeron ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This concept discussed in an amazing book “Chasing Excellence” is one that really jumped out at me. It is a concept the author talked about when discussing the mindset of training.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A bumblebee is a clunky, fat, oddly shaped insect that has tiny wings. There have been entomologists in the past who have asserted that they their ability to fly should be impossible. Yet they fly - we know they fly. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The bumblebee doesn’t care what someone thinks it should be able to do based in it’s physical characteristics - it just does what it knows it can do.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ A racehorse is born, bred and trained to win. They are meticulously taken care of from their prescribed workouts, to nutrition, to sleep. All of it is accounted for. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And when race day comes around - they wear blinders. Blinders to keep them focused only on their race and what’s ahead. They don’t look around to see who’s catching them or look back - they look forward, only forward.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We all need to be a little more like a bumblebee - giving less attention to what others say we can do and just doing what we know we can do.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And a little more like a racehorse - taking care of our bodies and our minds. I am so excited about my consignment store finds from this weekend! I got both of these Dash cookers for $5. Amazing condition! I had to test out the griddle. I made a grilled cheese for my daughter and an egg for me (hello perfect runny yolk!) Less than five minutes to fix both. I LOVE this thing! Heavy dimmel deadlift sets going up to 280kg for 3 on my last one. The plan was to hit 5 reps on every set but I decided to step up my recovery game and take short mini naps during my top lifts. It's working out well so far and I'm feeling very refreshed! As you adapt to the training load, it must be increased for continued physiological adaptations to occur. We can classify training loads into three categories stimulating, retaining and detraining. A detraining load ultimately results in a loss of fitness and loss of fitness, with stimulating doing the opposite. Load classification is a fluid concept in that to promote adaptation we must use a stimulating load, as you adapt to this load it becomes a retaining load and the previous load becomes a detraining load. Ground based free weight exercises, such as Olympic lifts, involve a degree of instability that allows for simultaneous development of all links of the kinetic chain, offering a much better training stimulus than instability device based exercises, for the development of core stability and the enhancement of athletic performance. . . . While there is room for instability devices, such as a bosu ball, for maximizing athletic performance, there isn't much bang for your buck due to the fact not much power can be derived from these devices. . . . Body confidence was something I struggled with for most of my teenage life. I was extremely thin, I felt uncomfortable in my skin and I would always wear layers to appear thicker in size. I was made fun of, body shammed and made to feel as if I had an eating disorder. Many women, no matter their shape or size all share this on some level, their stories may be different but we carry the same wounds. We have all struggled and deal with our insecurities, we have all encountered bullying and shaming of our bodies. . This is all inclusive to any and all women. . My greatest shift into a body positive mindset came from practice, being in the space with my body and appreciating it and then putting in the work to take care of it. Even being in the space of nakedness and starring at myself in the mirror was extremely uncomfortable, I strongly disliked it. You have to be willing to go there with yourself, to be vulnerable and to come face to face with yourself in the mirror. Think first about the “why” - why don’t I want to look at myself in the mirror, and not because it’s weird or silly, but get to the root of those thoughts and feelings. . The work will always be ongoing, it’s not about getting to a place of love and stopping, it’s not a destination, it’s an ongoing journey, you have to continue to work at it each day. Getting comfortable with my body on camera came with work, and I do it as a conscious act to grow with love and appreciation, it’s a symbol of the hard mental and physical work I had to move through to get the confidence to be here. Strength training and health awareness has been one part of the equation, I am grateful for what they have done for me and the other part has been mentally creating an awareness to the language and thoughts I have towards myself. . Be kind to yourself but most importantly be kind to others, we are all in this together and every women regardless of what she appears to look like carries her scars.
