I so much love this phrase I learned from @nelsonblaise_01 about a year ago. I was practicing my Igbo with him and gisting, and telling him how difficult and frustrating school was for me at that time, and he said this encouraging phrase to me (of course I then quickly asked him to right it down and send me a voicenote so I could practice it haha). . . . This is a great phrase of encouragement to someone. It means “May our Lord provide you the strength/zeal,” as in, to continue forward to deal with whatever you are facing. . . It’s a phrase you can say to someone who is mourning, who is exhausted, or who is just very frustrated. The “ume” there means more than the physical strength or power, but that strength from within that people evoke to push through even the most difficult of circumstances. . . . Is there someone who needs these words of encouragement around you in these trying times? Hey, even if not, I would still suggest to learners to challenge themselves today, to say this to someone in igbo! PART 1 <<<>>> There is no better bang for your buck than the SQUAT 🍑 ••• This post outlines ways to do this essential exercise in the comfort of your home. 😃 *** Squatting works all the major muscles in your lower body - quadriceps, glutes and hamstrings. 🦵 It is a functional movement that can provide muscle building benefits for all. *** There are many variations of a squat. Whether you are new to strengthening, have "bad knees", are recovering from an injury, or a high level athlete there is a variation of a squat that would likely provide you with benefit. *** Here’s a progression of squatting from easiest to hardest. 1. The 1/4 Squat This is the intro to squatting. To do this movement, begin with feet shoulder width apart, hold on to a table or counter and push your hips back as if you are doing the first portion of sitting back into an imaginary chair. Your knees should not cross your toes. It is called a "Quarter Squat" because you should imagine you are sitting a quarter of the way down. This is most beneficial for people who may have knee problems, are at risk of falling, or have not participated in physical activity for an extended period of time 2. The Wall Squat This variation allows you to squat at a depth that you are comfortable with. Up against a wall, let your hips slide down the wall while staying planted through your feet. Stop when you begin to feel tension in the front of your thighs. Try to hold this one for 10-60 seconds. Feel the burn! 3. Sit to Stand Squat This variation takes you through the whole squatting motion, but provides a nice safety net at the bottom if you need a rest. Keep your arms crossed and use your legs to get you up and out of the chair. Take breaks as needed and make sure your hips don't miss the chair! Rows have without a doubt been game changer for my back progress so I decided to slam them with a few variations 💪🏽💪🏽 also because I don’t have the normal back equipment I’d use in the gym. . Slow and steady wins the race, few of these vids are slightly sped up! . BACK & BOOTY SESH 👊🏽 1️⃣ Seated Rows/Cable Pulls 3x15 2️⃣ Bent over rows 3x15 ...Missing my weights so much 😫 I did 3x30 to really feel a burn which if you only have a band you may want to increase reps also but if you do have weight then 3x15 is a good goal! 3️⃣ Single Arm DB 3x12 each arm 4️⃣ Backward lunges 2x15 (add weight if you like, I did one set without as shown and one set with) 5️⃣ Single leg RDL’s 3x12 each leg. 6️⃣ Side Lunges 3x10 SUPERSET OPTION 7️⃣ Kickbacks (no video of this I fail 🤦🏽‍♀️ but pop on a resistance band or ankle cable if you have it and do some kick backs right after this with no rest!) . **FAT MELTER FINISHER** 🔥🔥 (Warning- not for the faint hearted) This is one of my go to HIIT circuits that I end most sessions with, I call it a 1 to 5. The goal is to perform each exercise listed below once, then twice, three, four and five times, then back down. It is excellent for working on conditioning and should be done as fast as possible: ● Press up ● Clean & press ● Burpee (no press up just feet off the floor) ● Squat jump ● Tuck jump Here are some general times to give you an idea of how long it should take: Over 9 minutes- poor 7-9 minutes- average 5-7 minutes- good Under 5 minutes- excellent I have done this, or something very similair with most of my clients and I'm sure they will agree it is physically and mentally tough if you give 100%! Making the most of a bad situation. Without too much structure and routine to our days it is tough to carry on as "normal" around our exercise. Most of us are spending way more time at our houses than we are used to and in an environment where we usually eat plenty and exercise rarely. So in the next few weeks and months it is important that we remember to just do what we can. Life is strange right now and it may get even more strange soon! Don't stress about eating the perfect diet or exercising 5 times a week. Do what you can to maintain your fat loss. Do enough exercise to maintain your strength. A time will come when you can go back to smashing goals. Happy Tuesday, my friends! Everything can change in an instant. I think we’ve all figured that out by now... Take these 2 pictures. They were taken only seconds apart. The only difference? A little bit of wind that blew the branches of the pine tree. Trees have so much wisdom to share with us. As much as the wind blows & the branches sway, the trunk & the roots are what keep the tree stable & strong. The deeper the roots, the stronger the foundation. When you’re feeling challenged by change, check in on your roots. What is grounding you & stabilizing you at this time? Who can you call on to help you stay upright & feel safe & protected? Not going to lie - first time doing MAX lunges since I broke my ankle almost THREE months ago and I was a little nervous. However, it felt really good and strong with the 80 pound burly bag! Definitely a little slower than I remember, but everyday it’s getting better!

Message of the day, April 7 2020 Happy libra full moon everyone! For today's reading, the first card I pulled is chains (traditionally the Devil). I immediately felt that today some of is are feeling more depressed or moody (partially due to the moon) than usual. For further clarification I pulled the seven of cups, which also directed me to feelings of depression or low self-esteem. Today is a really good day to sit and process some emotions, especially anger, annoyance, arrogance, and sadness. I feel like right now a lot of us are holding things in and we might be expressing it through feelings of anger. I feel like some of us feel there is a lot weighing them down and just know that this is okay. If you feel there's a lot weighing you down, let go of what you can't control and don't need. Picture putting it into a suitcase and closing it, then let whatever divine being you believe in help you but giving it the suitcase. We don't need to carry everything others put on us. With the seven of cups, I feel this is saying to go within and start experiencing our emotions. To just sit and let everything be. Cry if we need or maybe scream just to get that energy moving through us. I feel the figure above the man is spirit showing us what we are scared of and making it known, but this is not to discourage us. This is to show us what we need to begin to do to heal and work WITH what we're given in life. Don't resist it. I feel a good idea is to paint, journal, draw, watch a movie. Anything creative to help keep us going and unwind. When we take breaks from what's stressing us, we are able to let go, uplift our energy, see the situation from a higher perspective, and have the motivation to keep going and heal the situation. I also want to point out how the chained man is rising, and the spirit is point to a light, colourful beginning. Know that there is growth from this and that good things are coming. Let's just take what we need to now, find the lessons and blessings in it (as @theoraclewitch always says!) And keep moving forward. Take enough rest and drink lots of water and keep going! Give yourself the love and support you need to keep going 🌹

Tonight is the full moon- does that mean anything to you? There are so many rituals talked about to harness the energy during this time, but what purpose do they serve? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Regardless of the planets passing by, or the theme being represented, the purpose for the rituals ultimately come back to YOU. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Crystals, mantras and “woo woo” aside, let’s shift the perspective a bit. Can you utilize the full moon, each month, as a reminder to take a moment for you? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As you stand there, underneath the comforting, bright light, can you tune inward? As you breathe, how does it sound? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As your hand touches your chest, how fast is your heart beating? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As your toes touch the earth, what texture lies beneath them? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And as you envision your life- what pieces do you love the MOST? What parts make you feel proud? Grateful? Honored? Loved? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Can you then continue this pause a while longer and exist in those emotions? If only for a moment? Soaking up the love around you to feel complete? To feel whole? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The feelings of love and gratitude actually start to heal us on a cellular level. This may not change your circumstances, and it may not alter your life, but it can help us begin to shift the way we operate. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Which two emotions are at the top of the list for doing the opposite? Anger and fear. These emotions bring us further into a stress response resulting in more inflammation, more worry and more pain and suffering. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When this quarantine is over- how will you choose a ritual for you? Can the moon be your reminder to slow down when you’re moving too fast? Will you still take these moments to connect? What can you do now to build a routine to become resilient? How can you remain strong? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope you utilize this gift of time to find those answers.
