This whole isolation thing has got me re-thinking my work-outs. No more studio, no more gym...for the meantime at least.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And, just like many of you, I sometimes don't want to do it 🏋️‍♀️.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But it's necessary.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Daily movement is good for the physical - who doesn't want a hot-licous, strong body 💁‍♀️?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But there are two other reasons why I move my 🍑:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ » It supports our hormones. By maintaining good muscle tone, it will help to support healthy weight.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ » Given that many of us are going to be home for the next little while, with a lot of uncertainly and a lot less structure, this movement is for us and our mental health.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, here's what I do:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ » The night before, I select a workout from online. Some I've saved on instagram, some are Youtube, and some are just free two-week trials so I can test them out.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ » I try to mix up my workouts every day. Today was hammies and glute focused leg day. It’s challenging to stay motivated when normalcy has been taken & our health is at risk. It’s emotionally taxing for all of us and stress can be at an all time high managing and adapting to something we have never experienced. But instead of bitching about it or fixating on it...I stay prepared and remain grateful to keep things as structured as possible. Being grateful and having structure is the only motivation I need to just control what I can, have faith and follow the rules. I don’t like this isolation crap as much as you, but I do know that I’ll to do my part as a human to abide by what the authorities dictate so we can resolve the nightmare upon us. I’m thankful my family is safe. I’m thankful to breathe. I’ll continue to do what I can physically, spiritually and emotionally to be healthy & sane. The ability to do pushes me to do...because the freedom to do IS motivation enough. We CAN & WILL push through this. Around January 2019 I was experiencing extreme hip and back pain and I stupidly ignored it until it became unbearable. Around February I went to see many doctors and turned out I had a partially herniated disk and si joint dysfunction. I had to completely stop all weighted compound lifts for nearly 8 months. In the past year I’ve been so slowly rebuilding and healing and perfecting my form. And today I did 135 for 8x3 which may seem small to some but that’s the most I’ve done in like a year since getting injured and it feels great to after all this time be really lifting heavy ish again.
