NEW SONGS YOU SHOULD HEAR
1.) “We Will Always Love You” by The Avalanches & Blood Orange
It was very recent that I dove into The Avalanches’ discography, a process that I’ve enjoyed a lot, so this new single is coming at a good time. Featuring guest vocals from Blood Orange, and samples from Smokey Robinson & The Roches, the song is an ethereal R&B jam with beautiful instrumentation. I am very much hyped for their new album after hearing this song: The Avalanches’ have this unique musical touch that I haven’t heard duplicated elsewhere.
2.) “Feel Me” by Selena Gomez
I really wish that this song had been on Selena’s last album when it came out (apparently, it will be on the vinyl edition): it’s a very catchy pop jam that would have fit the vibe of that record perfectly. I love the uplifting bouncy production, and Selena’s voice glides over the instrumental like butter. Lyrically, it’s a powerful breakup anthem, a type of pop song that Selena knows how to make oh so well.
3.) “California” by Kota The Friend
Kota has been on a roll this year, releasing a slew of singles as well as a short mixtape-of-sorts, “Lyrics To Go Vol. 1”. This new single is a smooth trap banger, with an instrumental that has a retro feel to it. I’ve always loved Kota’s flow, and this song helps to show why. Overall, it’s a fun hiphop song with tons of replay value. Hopefully, 2020 will be the year that Kota blows up & gets the recognition he deserves.
