: : “Champagne? Chocolate?
No, ... something quite memorable.
The answer in his fists.
... boxing lessons relieve tension, rid of emotions ... ... they came to laugh, discover something, to learn, to improve.”
The above is a poem. Till today, I hadn’t heard of erasure poetry. Even more curiously, I only found out when the submission guidelines for an art section of a magazine online said they don’t accept erasure poetry. I looked it up and decided to try my hand at it. I had to deface half of a weekend magazine before I finally found something in the newspaper that would make sense.
*** This poem was made by erasing parts of a news report about this professional boxer Hassan N’Dam who hit upon boxing lessons as a way to thank the staff of the hospital who looked after his father-in-law. The poem turned out to be a summary of the report. An erasure poem is meant to be a new creation that comes up after you eliminate words that you don’t want. Or that’s what I gathered. It needn’t bear any relation to the original text either. I’m not sure if I’ll do this again. #erasurepoetry #curiousthings #poetryofinstagram #isitpoetry #discoveryoftheday #art #zentanglepoetry #hassanndam #zentangle #zentangleinspiredart
