The beginning of 2020, I did a collaboration with @dragonschool99 , @oaklandish and @oaklandchinatownchamber to produce a video on Oakland Chinatown giving exposure to the community. Oakland is a fast changing city, rent has gone up x2 the amount in the last 6 years making it hard for local businesses to survive. The amount of love I had for this project was amazing, I only hope that I did my part. Fast forward to the beginning of March. Business in Oakland Chinatown has dropped by a x amount, something I was trying to prevent from happening. As the news of Covid-19 broke up, people became paranoid to visit Asian communities. Soon after, all non business were shut down and restaurant were only allowed to do Take Away. Even once Covid-19 cools down and we go back to our normal life. Asians will be scared with discrimination for a decade or more. Business will not be the same, Asian communities are in for a rough time and we just got to stay strong, we’ll fight on, we are one. The United State is my home country, let’s fight on together.
