YJHD deals with love as a cause and consequence to meeting an individual that you know can change your life.
When Kabir says " Tum galat nahi ho Naina, bas mujhse bahut alag ho", we all felt that. Honestly because we've all met lovers, starry-eyed only to realise that there is no scope of the future. But in between all this love and separation, both Kabir and Naina learnt from each other how to look at life with a different perspective.
In the first half, Kabir teaches Naina to live each day, each moment fully and not worry about being a misfit or a nerd. He becomes the friend we all crave for when we are feeling low. Bunny doesn't use the "3 magical words" but with kind words he soothes her soul.
And in the second half, when they meet again after 8 years, Naina teaches Kabir to pause, breathe and let go in the moment: What it means is that we run after our dreams so much, that in between the chaos, we forget to find a moment to breathe. That teaches us to learn to appreciate the small things.
What runs in the background of this romance and binds these two together time and again, is that they both learn and grow through each other- which makes their relationship beautifully flawed and real.
On their journey, we also learn that true love does not have to be about wordly aspects like hugs, kisses and sex. It can be something that repairs your soul.
