🇪🇺💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #BrexitDay To all my European friends, mentors, teachers, colleagues, classmates, I am truly sorry for today. I have been trained professionally by Europeans. Some of my best friends are Europeans. My classmates were predominantly Europeans. I have learned from Europeans. I have been enriched by Europeans. I was lucky to live and work in an environment where we freely learnt from each other and taught each other, and there's nothing more than to say I'm sorry that #Brexit is taking place, ripping many more of these opportunities in the near future. Our talent, our competition, our innovation will now be diverted away because people couldn't understand why we needed a European Union and chose to vote blindly. I share a photo of the #UniversityofGlasgow who has a thriving talented and innovative European population. It is where I have met most of European friends and have been trained by professionals at the top of their fields, and I truly hope going forward that the institute will continue to cherish and nurture this. Once again, I am sorry, and I hope that #Scotland will be a part of #EuropeanUnion in the future again 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙🇪🇺 • • • • • • • #eu #europe #brexitreferendum #indyref #indyref2 #scotlandloveseurope #Glasgow #glasgowuni #uofg #universityofglasgow #european #scottishindependence

#Regram #RG @leonardodicaprio @guardian: The European parliament has declared a global “climate and environmental emergency” ahead of the latest UN global crisis summit. The vote came as scientists warned that the world may have already crossed a series of climate tipping points. In a separate vote on Thursday, MEPs backed a resolution stating that current EU climate targets were “not in line” with the 2015 Paris climate agreement and backed a tougher target of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030. While this is an improvement on the current 40% target, environmental campaigners said the EU's declaration wasn't backed by sufficient action. The Brexit party voted against both climate resolutions. . . . . . . #StateofEmergency #climatecrisis #Europe #EuropeanParliament #Environment #climateemergency #brexit #brexit🇪🇺 #climatechange #climatechangeisreal #climate #government #politics #PoliticsAsUsual #PoliticsMatter #politicsNow #politicsofinstagram #politicsdaily #brexitblues #brexitdebate #brexitreferendum #brexitnegotiations #BrexitThis

'Damaging, inexplicable and shaming.' . @hillaryclinton has used a London appearance to describe her fury at Britain’s intelligence services for their refusal to release their findings on Russia’s interference in the Brexit referendum. . 'Who do they think they are keeping information like that from the public?' Clinton asked. 'I’ll tell you who they think they are… all-powerful, strong men who should be ruling.' . Clinton told the Guardian it was ‘incredibly surprising and unacceptable that in your country there is a government report sitting there about Russian influence and your current government isn’t releasing it’. . The report by the intelligence and security committee -which examines attempts by Russia to affect the outcome of the 2016 Brexit referendum- has already been approved by the intelligence agencies and was expected to be released by the end of October, but the government has indicated that it will not be made public before the UK's general election which will take place December 12. . As UK lawmakers rejected the proposal for an early election three times in a month, only to suddenly change their minds last week, it is tempting to ask: what changed?⁣ ⁣ The answer is in the numbers. When the Liberal Democrats and Scottish National Party – both of whom are polling strongly – decided that the current Parliament would never deliver the votes for the second referendum on Brexit that they are demanding, it was time to accept an election that will serve as a proxy for a Brexit vote.⁣ ⁣ So commences a five-week campaign that is the hardest to predict in living memory. However, with Britain just as divided as it was three months or three years ago, there is no guarantee that this election will break the deadlock.⁣ ⁣ The UK is cold and dark on December 12 and nothing is more likely to bring an end to pre-Christmas cheer than campaigning politicians. Anyone confidently predicting victory when most people are, at best, ambivalent about being sent to the polling booths for the fourth time in as many years, is on a hiding to nothing.⁣ ⁣ Adapted from the article by Benjamin Fox, full text in our bio link. ⁣ ⁣ Photo by Luke Stackpoole on Unsplash #brexit #brexitdebate #europeanunion #brexitreferendum #ukelections #brexitnegotiations

If you agree that a referendum on Brexit now we know what it would be is the only right way forward, please sign the @peoples_vote open letter, and write to your MP telling them to support a referendum. If you still think having a vote is anti-democratic, leave a comment and we can discuss it • The red and green banner reads 'This looks a lot like the will of the people to me'. In the final picture the guy is 'British voters' (I can't remember what the number was, something million), girl at the back is 'Brexit' and girl in front 'People's Vote' • #finalsay #eureferendum #eu #imin #european #🇪🇺 #remaineu #peoplesvote #peoplesvotemarch #brexit #thewillofthepeople #democracy #protest #brexitmarch #welovedemocracy #uk #europeanunion #loves_united_kingdom #european #london #powertothepeople #peoplesvote #brexitreferendum #remain #oneinamillion #ukparliament #housesofparliament #notmywill

Hundreds of thousands People’s Vote protestors marched through the streets of London today, October 19th, 2019 calling for a Final Say referendum on Brexit. From Park Lane to Parliament Square, they peacefully filed along as MPs attend a special Saturday sitting in the Commons for the first time since the Falklands War. Missed plane. No sleep. Lost passport. Strong armed by Berlin police (show me zee papers). Cold, wet and hungry. Great day. Fourteen hours ago i was eating dinner from an airport vending machine. Back home in #EastLondon. As the country ramps up for #Brexit and rallies against police crackdown on protestors, I'm reminded of this beautiful sentiment by @floatingconcrete. What does a meaningful forwards look like? What future(s) can we design together that pushes out agendas built around justice, equity, compassion and community? What does the new social contract look like and what methods and tools do we have to co-create it? What can we learn from three and a half years since the #BrexitReferendum about how to hold public figures to account for their promises, how to manage change in a way that involves the public in the process - as complex as it is - towards information gathering, designing new policy and decision making, how can we build up critical thinking and immunity against how the media (social and public) shapes public sentiment and frames our sense of reality? The legacies left by Brexit, by Trump, by Cambridge Analytica, by #MeToo, by the wars that disrupted the world order, by natural disasters and terrorism in schools... has so far been a rise in #xenophobic and #antiimmigrant sentiment, loss of trust, rise in #ecoanxiety, unprecedented market irregularities, mass migration, public disorder, global protests led by children. People are angry. But we're all also more aware. There's more conversation and initiatives around climate, mental health, refugees, toxic masculinity, corporate conduct, data protection. We're waking up to the illusion of the individual. Social change is interconnected and accumulative. And just like our genetic codes and our mental scripts, our futures can be programmed differently. We can decide differently. I don't want to take my country back, I want to take it forwards.

We have some important NEWS for UK CITIZENS who want to start living in Spain after Brexit! ⚠️ ⠀ ⠀ And the truth is that, right now, the situation is completely paralyzed ❌⠀ ⠀ What does that mean? That citizens from the United Kingdom can't get their European Union certificate to start living in Spain. They won't be able (at least by now) to book an appointment to get the NIE with their passport.⠀ ⠀ Then, what to do? 🤔 ⠀ ⠀ Simply wait. Wait until there's any new update from the government. Because right now it is unclear if they will need to request a non-EU permit from now on, or the immigration office will create a specific new procedure (the most probable outcome). ⠀ ⠀ We will keep you informed!⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #brexit #brexitdebate #brexitillustration #brexitreferendum #brexitnegotiations #brexitfriends #brexitescapeplan #BrexitThis #immigration #spain #immigrationspain #workpermit #residencepermit #immigrationlaw #spain #newlaw #law #lawyer #lawyerbarcelona #lawyerspain #ukcitizensinspain

Where are you from? For most of you this question is simple. But not for me. Are you from the place you were born? In which case I am from Germany, even though I was less than 1yo when we left, I don’t speak German and I haven’t lived there since. Even with a German mum, I’ve never felt particularly German. We spent a brief time in Dorset, followed by 5 years in the Netherlands. Then it was 3 years in Belgium, and then back to England where I’ve spent the last 13 years. So maybe the place you are from is the place you’ve spent the most time? Ok then, but where in England am I from? I spent 5 years in London and the last 8 were split between Somerset and Birmingham (Uni). So where am I from? ****Warning: anti-brexit spiel incoming**** It is sad that in 2019 we still have the mindset of ‘you must stay in the same place that you are from’, when there is a world to explore and a plentitude of experiences to be had. I knew from a very young age that it would be a long time before I settled down in one country, assuming I ever do. There are too many cultures to experience in ways that can’t be done through holidays alone. And you know what thing will make this easier for me to accomplish? The European Union. The EU to me represents the first step to my ideal world. One where people are free to live and work and travel wherever they please. One where people exchange cultures and ideas and knowledge. One where there is no more “us and them”, but just “we”. ‘Patriotism’ is not something I’ve ever experienced or understood. Whether you say ‘European Union’, ‘Europäische Union’, or something else, the meaning behind those words is the same. I sincerely hope that Britain decides to stay part of this, so that we can all work towards this future together. I am British. I am European. I am human. #brexit #stopbrexit #remainer #remain #europe #europeanunion #travel #world #earth #explore #culture #life #german #british #deutsch #european #instagood #instadaily #picoftheday #map #adventure #politics #peoplesvote #voteremain #exitfrombrexit #strongerineurope #openbritain #democracy #brexitdebate #brexitreferendum
