On a day like today we all need some soul. Music is soothing to the soul.
There are a lot more music choices but these brought me through along with my Dad's Big band and Classical music. I worked for what I want especially back home on the rez in my teenage years. I started growing up from the age of 5, learned to fix formulas, change diapers and scrub those diapers on a wash board. By the time I was 7 I was scrubbing clothes with my older sibs. Fishing and collecting logs sawing chopping wood, cooking with both my parents at age 9, a lot of manual labor, so by the time I was 11 I was grown up like. Rewards - collecting LPs 45s 8 tracks, then cassettes and Cds later. I was rewarded a floor model stereo cabinet, I won Bose speakers from Kelly's Stereo Mart, my older brother added an Equalizer system to my stereo. I was in heaven. My older sibs married and left the nest but my older brother always enjoyed music with us. When Elvis died in 1977 I found out "Where" my Elvis LPs and 45s went. I collect 1196 LPs, 640 45s, 150 8 tracks, 96 78s, 350 cassettes. Columbia House, Kelly's Stereo Mart, Audio Vision, Sight n Sound and anywhere LPs music were sold they were my favorite hangout. From 1940s to 1980s at the time collecting all kinds soothing to my soul. Sadly when our house burnt in 1982 it took the life of my older brother and all my music and stereo. Never again I said but come 1983 my Dad started for me from some dude in Prince Rupert who sold his 500 LPs and stereo to my Dad for me. I had 3 big hockey bags for equipment full of my music when I left the North coast, then someone walked away with all 3 at Langely. Now just very little my collection.
I Love music singing and learning the guitar with my grandson sharing tales of my Dad and his music. Soothing to my soul.
