Ook dit ben ik. Al twintig jaar lang diabetes type 1 patiënt, 24 uur per dag, 7 dagen op 7. Één keer per jaar, op #worlddiabetesday wil ik nog maar eens duidelijk maken dat het niet gewoon een kwestie is van gezonder te gaan leven. Bij type 1 diabetes valt namelijk het eigen afweersysteem de bètacellen van de alvleesklier aan en vernietigt ze. Het lichaam maakt daardoor geen of onvoldoende insuline aan. Elke vorm van voedsel dat langs de mond passeert moet berekend worden en weggespoten worden. Levenslang insuline spuiten is dus noodzakelijk. Ik prik minstens 2x per dag in mijn vinger, ik spuit minstens 5x per dag insuline, elke week plaats ik een nieuwe sensor in mijn buik maar ik moet vooral elk moment van de dag rekening houden met mijn diabetes. Af en toe zeg ik ook liever “foert” (helaas moet ik dit dan de uren nadien bekopen) maar ik ben oprecht blij waar ik nu sta. Ik heb twee wonderschone en gezonde kinderen, ik verleg mijn eigen grenzen op sportief vlak en ben elke dag bezig om nieuwe dromen waar te maken. Dus ja, het is op sommige momenten echt vreselijk en ik zou liever hebben dat het te genezen valt maar het zal mij nooit tegenhouden. Day 5: I'm on a fast day today so I stead of sharing a cup of coffee with you all here's what I'm going to do. Healthy body needs a healthy mind so I'm not going to lie I do go to counseling/therapy it was here where I was explained the window of tolerance. I'm in no way a medical expert and my memory isn't great so bear with. You have ups and downs during the day and they remain in your window of tolerance (quite literally meaning what your mind can tolerate in a day) However shit happens and sometimes something happens that you can't handle (see the big spikes on the picture). But Interestinly it's not about making sure these spikes don't happen it's about what YOU can do to widen your tolerence window. I was told to widen your window you should try and have 2 examples for the below categories: 💪 Physical - (anything at all that requires a little effort it doesn't mean gym 6 days a week, maybe just walking the dog) 🕯️Spiritual - (anything you can emerse yourself in) yoga, prayer or crafts and baking 👯‍♀️Social - (does what it says on the tin really) meet up with a friend for a coffee, make new friends, join a club anything that gets you talking to other people 😄 Emotional - (talking) talk to a loved one, a friend a stranger just talk about what's bothering you. How many times have you done something in auto pilot? Drove to a destination, arrived and thought, I can't remember driving here.. And realised how dangerous that is.. Well the same goes for a lot of our lives and the decisions we make. We are on auto pilot, and often so busy in our heads, we are not " in the room". Not consciously thinking and impulsively making decisions. How dangerous is that? It can often lead to decisions we regret, negative situations we end up in, eating food we don't really want, buying product's we don't really need. All because we are not in control of our thoughts. Or we link and hook into the thoughts and the fantasy surrounding them, without fully comprehending and processing their real meaning. We are not in control of our minds. How do we change this? 1. Be aware of your surroundings and environment and your thoughts. Focus. 2. Slow down.....being busy sets the brain in motion. And overwhelms it. S L O W. Take a minute or so away from the rush. 3. Breathe...or be aware of the breath. Take note of it. Is it heavy, slow, quick or deep. Deep breath in....hold and slowly out. 4. Be still....just be. Even for a few minutes. Just allow yourself to unbusy. Once we slow our breathing down, we can begin to notice the thoughts we have. When we become aware of our thoughts, we can truly start to understand ourselves better. We can change our thought patterns and become aware of reoccurring thought patterns. Not only to be conscious, but to make better decisions. When we are in control of what we are thinking, we are then in control of the food we eat, the drinks we drink, the situations we place ourselves in, the friends we keep, the relationships we have. We become more aware of life within us, alongside the life around us. You've had many moments in life when you operated from pure awareness itself. But you may not have had the meta-cognitive capacity to recognise it. You can recognise pretty quickly if you're operating from pure awareness. Simply ask yourself in any moment: Am I open? Am I present? Am I judging? Am I reacting? Am I equanimous? Am I loving? You can use those qualities as markers to recognise if/when you are operating from pure awareness. Pure awareness is the fabric of your being. It's always right here. It just gets clouded over by mental and emotional noise. Meditation clears away the clouds so pure awareness can open up and shine through. Meditation also trains your meta-cognitive ability so you can recognise pure awareness more easily and operate from that place for longer durations.

QUANDO HO COMINCIATO AD AMARMI DAVVERO: Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, mi sono reso conto che il dolore serviva a ricordarmi che stavo vivendo in contrasto con i miei valori. Oggi so che questa si chiama AUTENTICITÀ. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, ho capito quanto fosse offensivo voler imporre a qualcun altro i miei desideri, anche se quella persona ero io. Oggi so che questo si chiama RISPETTO. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, ho smesso di desiderare una vita diversa e ho compreso che le sfide che stavo affrontando erano un invito a migliorarmi. Oggi so che questa si chiama MATURITÀ. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, ho capito che in ogni circostanza ero al posto giusto e al momento giusto e che tutto ciò che mi accadeva aveva un preciso significato. Oggi so che questa si chiama FIDUCIA IN SÉ STESSI. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, non ho più rinunciato al mio tempo libero e ho smesso di fantasticare troppo su grandiosi progetti futuri. Oggi faccio solo ciò che mi procura gioia e felicità, ciò che mi appassiona e mi rende allegro, rispettando i miei tempi. Oggi so che questa si chiama SEMPLICITÀ. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, mi sono liberato di tutto ciò che metteva a rischio la mia salute: cibi, persone, oggetti, situazioni e qualsiasi cosa che mi trascinasse verso il basso allontanandomi da me stesso. All’inizio lo chiamavo “sano egoismo”, ma oggi so che questo si chiama AMOR PROPRIO. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, ho smesso di voler avere sempre ragione. E così facendo ho commesso meno errori. Oggi so che questa si chiama UMILTÀ. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, mi sono rifiutato di continuare a vivere nel passato o di preoccuparmi del futuro. Oggi ho imparato a vivere nel momento presente, l’unico istante che davvero conta. Oggi so che questo si chiama BENESSERE. Quando ho cominciato ad amarmi davvero, mi sono reso conto che il mio pensiero può rendermi miserabile e malato. Ma quando ho imparato a farlo dialogare con il mio cuore, l’intelletto è diventato il mio migliore alleato. Oggi so che questa si chiama SAGGEZZA.

If you are using one of the popular voice assistance products at your home from top technology companies like Apple, Amazon and Google, this news is for you. A team of academic researchers from University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo and University of Michigan have successfully demonstrated that attackers could remotely inject inaudible and invisible commands using laser lights into voice assistants, such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Facebook Portal, and Apple Siri. Code-named LightCommands the innovation promises to inject malicious commands into several voice-controlled devices including smart speakers, tablets, and phones. The demonstration videos released by the researchers earlier this week showed that these commands could be sent to the target devices across large distances and even into locked rooms through glass windows. Exploiting a common vulnerability in these popular devices an attacker can remotely send inaudible and potentially invisible commands which are then acted upon by these devices claim the researchers. Once an attacker has gained access to voice assistance systems, they could use this vulnerability to attack other systems. I’m peeling away the layers of the filtration system, that I have put in place in order for you to feel I’m less “in your face” . The layers I have set in place based on my perception of what is needed to steer us down a path of connection. . But these layers are a protection mechanism. . A disguise. . Preventing me from expressing my authentic self without the lies. . Without the fear to run and hide. . The more I peel away the filters, the more I filter out the people that don’t actually need to be in my space. . Oh I trigger you? . And that mean I should change does it? . Hmmmm... . That’s a hard thanks but no thanks. . The more I move towards my truth. . The less I filter for the sake of you. . Knowing that my heart is opening, my mind is expanding, and my intentions are good. . These truths that I feel within me, make me feel absolutely no need to take on your projections as “my work”, when it is in fact your work”. . I’m in my process. . It’s unfolding. . And I am fully engaged with this process. . Now this isn’t to say that when I come up against a reflection, that I won’t check in with myself. . That doesn’t mean that my interpersonal relationships aren’t a space for me to learn about myself... and grow. . It means that I am removing the blockages that prevent me from freely expressing my truth and my emotions in each moment. . It means that I won’t hold myself back in fear that someone “might be triggered”. . If I trigger a loved one, and they need to process, I’m there. . Fully. . Ready to hear them out. . I will take their words in. . And see how they land in my being. . I will ask myself if what they are presenting is my truth, or is it theirs? . This is the space from which I intend to move forwards. . Honouring myself, and loving myself enough to move past the repressive thoughts, ideas, and behaviours that actually cause dis-ease and discomfort within my being. . I liberate myself. .
