INJURY UPDATE: Norberto Murara Neto
It is official now. Neto has picked up an injury yesterday, after catching the ball and landing unluckily on his left ankle. This is his second injury since he joined FC Barcelona. The first one lasted for almost two months at the beginning of the season, when he underwent a surgery for fracturing the scaphoid in his left hand. This time, it is not specified for how long he will wait on the sidelines, but what is more troubling for our second choice keeper is the fact, that right now, he would play more frequently, as there are countless Cup matches ahead of us. Not lucky I guess.
There are two questions on my mind. Will Ter Stegen take over from him, or will that be our reserve goalkeeper from the B team, Iñaki Peña? And if the latter is chosen, would that be a problem?
To answer the first and the second question at once, I think Peña could or at least should get the chance. He is extremely talented and he can make a name for himself in the future, considering that we hope the board will be refreshed and that the trust in our youth would be reinstalled. But we are already on the right path with our coach, who already showed us, that he isn't afraid to take risks.
Certainly, the transfer of the Brazilian to our club wasn't expected, but he has proven to be a good alternative to our No.1 goalkeeper. Cillessen was going the other way, now playing for Valencia, but both keeper's are yet to show their true worth. Neto, you unlucky player. Hope you come back sooner than later. #animsneto
