𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐘 — On July 14th, 1984 a baby girl was born to Emiliano and Louisa Alberti. They named her Claretta Jane Alberti. The baby would soon grow in beauty, grace, and purity, as well as wealth. Her homeland was in Verona, Italy — one of the most beautiful places to be, in her mind. Being the last and fourth child of the Alberti family, she was allowed to have her freedom while her father was busy with her older sisters’ engagements. Each of the girls had their turn of being betrothed and handed over except for Claretta. And she was grateful for it. By the time she was 15, she was alone in the home while her sisters and brother were enjoying the magnificent life of marriage. Her brother was her most favourite since she spent most of her childhood with him so she wrote him each day. He told her about the secrets of life and what is was like to be an adult in the world juggling children, a wife, a home, and a profession. And she told him what it was like to live alone with Father and ‘Mother Dearest’. Soon, it was her time to flee the nest. With Father dead, and Mother waking up with satisfaction at how much money his occupation had left her, it was Claretta’s turn to start a life of her own. As soon as her bags were packed, she ran along to London, not looking back at what was now a mess of her family tree. She started University there and became a Professor’s assistant until she becomes one herself. English Professor, of course; her dream. Claretta is now 24 years old and lives in a snug apartment in a tucked away corner in London with her recently adopted daughter, Emmeline.
